OSSC Pro Extra AV Out Addon Preview

The OSSC Pro is a robust device that can upscale, downscale, passthrough, switch video signals, transcode, separate/combine sync, shift and scale an image, convert analog video/audio signals to digital, and with the optional Extra AV Out Addon, convert digital to analog. Marqs has developed an updated addon that retains the same functionality as the previous, whilst adding composite and S-Video output.

The new design incorporates an AD723 encoder, and the most current firmware v0.83 adds new menus to output PAL, PAL-M/N, and NTSC formats; making it the only downscaler besides the Extron Emotia to output 240p over composite/S-Video. The Framelock settings can force 50/60Hz, so vertical frequency can be converted in case the display only accepts particular formats. It also allows ALL outputs to be connected simultaneously, so one could display the same resolution over composite, S-Video, RGB AND HDMI. Not only is this awesome for driving multiple displays and for streaming, but also makes downscaling/passthrough to a CRT more accessible without needing an additional active encoder. S-Video users will be pleased with the almost-RGB quality, whilst those with a composite-only CRT can expect an acceptable level of dot-crawl, with some neat blending effects that may be preferable for those rare scenarios like Sonic’s waterfall.

The 3D-printed case is yet to be updated to accommodate the RCA and S-Video din, but anyone with basic 3D-printing design can modify the existing file in the meantime. The new addon is expected to be in stock in small quantities hopefully by the end of September 2026 at Video Game Perfection, and a re-stock date is at the mercy of the AD723 encoder availability.
