Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 Teaser Confirms 2027 Release Date

Escape From Playtime has been released into Early Access, and it didn't take long for the community to discover that there's a hidden teaser trailer at the end of the final shift for a run. Since the trailer was found by the community, Mob Entertainment has now made it available on their official YouTube Channel with the title "What's the time?"

The trailer is less than a minute long, but you know that hasn't stopped the community—myself included—from taking in every detail and speculating about what it might mean. Most importantly to begin with, we now have confirmation that Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 will be released in 2027, even though the month and exact date have yet to be revealed.

The Trailer is Hidden in Escape From Playtime and Narrated by the Prototype

We got to see the Prototype for the first time in Chapter 5, but we've known about him from the earliest chapters and even heard him prior to seeing his physical form. It's not the most surprising to have him narrate the teaser for Chapter 6, especially if you've been keeping up with the game and saw the way Chapter 5 ended.

Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 will be released in 2027.

The Prototype has always been positioned as the primary villain of Poppy Playtime following the Hour of Joy revelation, and before that, he was mostly a mysterious experiment that we knew was capable of planning and executing plans better than most experiments. And here's where I get to point out a confirmed fact: the Mysterious Voice in Escape From Playtime isn't the Prototype. I openly admit that my guess about this being the case was wrong, since until now, most unknown voices ended up being the Prototype.

I do not doubt that the decisions to have the Prototype narrate the trailer, confirm that he's not the Mysterious Voice in Escape From Playtime, and hide the teaser trailer in Escape From Playtime were all made deliberately by Mob Entertainment, as basically everything regarding the games in terms of official announcements and content so far has been relevant to the lore.

I Believe Escape From Playtime Will Build Into Poppy Playtime Chapter 6

If you haven't played Escape From Playtime and are perhaps uninterested in a multiplayer Poppy Playtime-universe experience, don't worry. I'll explain the relevant lore in Escape From Playtime as I go through my theory, so you won't feel lost at all.

To begin with, Escape From Playtime puts you in the role of Smiling Critters who remain in the factory following the Hour of Joy. The Mysterious Voice instructs you to bring scraps from around the factory as tribute to help create A Better Place. In exchange, the Smiling Critters who have been loyal and helpful will be rewarded. But where have we heard this before?

Yes, the idea of A Better Place has been popping up in Poppy Playtime more often the deeper you get into the game. It seems that the promise of creating A Better Place or A Better World has been given multiple times, but the question is whether this location actually exists. Escape From Playtime looks at gathering supplies to create one, and I'm willing to bet that the game is set after the Hour of Joy, but before the start of Poppy Playtime Chapter 1.

If this is the case, then there's a good chunk of time between them, and that would make it possible that somebody orchestrated the construction of A Better Place, whether that's the Prototype or the Mysterious Voice, whoever that might be, and whoever they might be working for. Now, the Prototype is mentioning A Better Place in the Chapter 6 teaser, making it feel likely that this is going to be the location we end up exploring.

To add to that thought, the images in the trailer seem kind of cozy in a weird way, bringing back memories of Chapter 3's Home Sweet Home. If you have a bunch of children who were made into toys and left behind in an abandoned factory, it makes sense that their idea of A Better Place is simply a home, which is also terribly sad. This speculation ties everything up nicely enough that I feel rather excited about the possibility of finally seeing A Better Place in Poppy Playtime Chapter 6 when it's released in 2027.
